Day 23: 30/5/2013

Our caterpillars are still sleeping soundly in their chrysalides. There are no changes to report and we are all waiting patiently!!

Day 28: 4/6/2013

We arrived into school this morning to find all the chrysalides still sleeping!

Day 29: 5/6/2013

This is 2 weeks to the day since the caterpillars went into their chrysalides. I arrived into the classroom this morning and I found one of the chrysalides was shaking. This is a sign that they are nearly ready to change into butterflies. In sheer excitement I called some children that had arrived early to school from the yard into the classroom to see what was happening. Nothing happened though.

Then at around 10.15 am we saw a butterfly had hatched. After small break we then had 2 more butterflies. Then at about 11.30 we witnessed the last chrysalis changing into a butterfly. It was so exciting!!!!

None of the butterflies are flying yet as this takes time, hopefully by tomorrow though they will be flying! We will leave them free on Friday in the school garden.
