A very big thank you to Nurse Karen Fitzgerald (mother of Alex) for informing us all about her job at Mercy University Hospital in Cork. Nurse Karen looks after stroke patients. What is a stroke? A stroke is where some of your brain cells stop working. She told us about the signs to look out for. She explained what F.A.S.T means. (Face, Arms, Speech, Time). She told us to be healthy and never to smoke. We watched a great video that explained all about Stroke clues in a child friendly way, this is an American video so the only difference is the phone number; it is 999 in Ireland.
