Uganda 2012

Here are a selection of photos from my trip to Madudu, Uganda last July. It was a wonderful experience and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you to everyone for all your support.

Active School Week

 

From June 11th- 18th the pupils of Scoil Bhríde will enjoy Active School Week.
Active School Week raises an awareness of the importance of physical activity in our daily lives. The pupils will participate in physical activities such as Yoga, Orienteering, Tennis, Football, Obstacle Course Games. Active School week will culminate in an Olympic Fun Sports Day on June 18th.

Sciath na Scol Finals

Congratulations to the boys and girls football teams who have reached the Sciath na Scol finals which will be held in Dunmanway GAA grounds on Thursday June 14th.The girls will play Gaelscoil Chloch na gCoillte at 10 10am in Pitch 2. The boys will play Ardagh NS at 12 20pm in Pitch 1. We wish them well. Scoil Bhríde Abú!

green Flag

 

There was great excitement on Tuesday May 1st when we were told that our school was awarded its first Green Flag. Everyone has worked really hard to get this award which will be presented to members of the Green Schools Committe at a Presentation Ceremony in Silversprings Hotel,Cork on May 22nd. We look forward to a celebratory day in our school in June to raise the Green Flag. Well done to everyone.

Seachtain na Gaeilge

Táimid go léir ag súil go mór le Seachtain na Gaeilge.   
The pupils are looking forward to celebrating Seachtain na Gaeilge.   

 The following events will be held during the week:
– Céilí for all classes
– Seisiún Ceoil for all classes
– Comórtas/Talent Competition Rang 1-Rang6
– Comórtas/Art Competition Junior & Senior Infants

Aoine 16ú – Lá Glas.
The children can come to school in their casual clothes dressed to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. Remember to wear something green. Children are asked to contribute 2euro on the day (max 5euro per family). The money will go to the Lámha Suas Charity. Ms. Murphy, Junior Infant teacher is involved with this charity which is dedicated to improving education in Uganda. Ms. Murphy will be travelling to Uganda in July to teach there.

 

Book Fair

We look forward to our school Book Fair which will be held on Tuesday 21st February – Friday 24th February. Each class will be given an opportunity to view the books available at the Book Fair.

Opening Times :
12.30pm-1pm each day for pupils from Rang 1- Rang 6.

2pm-3pm each day for parents/guardians. Infants can visit the Book Fair at this time with an adult.

7pm-9pm Friday 24th for all pupils, parents and guardians.
