The Backpack Project

We were delighted to have the missioners visit our school today. They spoke to the children from R2 – R6 about ‘The Backpack Project’ which is organised by ‘Mary’s Meals’.  This project is a way of helping children from very poor families in countries like Malawi to go to school.

The following items can be included in the backpack:

Notepad, pencils, pens, crayons, eraser, ruler, sharpener, pencil case, towel, shorts or skirt, t-shirt or dress, flip-flops or sandals, small ball e.g. tennis ball, soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, spoon.

Mary’s Meals will send the filled backpacks to children who really need them, which will enable them to attend school and gain and education that can help them escape from poverty when they grow up.

The filled backpacks can be dropped to the school anytime before Tuesday, 18th October 2016.
